1.0 Introduction

This user guide explains the capability, operation, and maintenance of the AquaVent water level and temperature datalogger. Focus is on use with Solinst Levelogger Software (Solinst Protocol), with separate User Guides discussing use with SDI-12 and MODBUS protocols.

To begin using your AquaVent, we recommend you install Levelogger Software Version 4.3 (or higher). Please visit: www.solinst.com/downloads/ to download the current version or check for updates.

Note:

To use the AquaVent with Version 4.3 Levelogger Software, the AquaVent logger must be using Firmware Version 1.000 or higher. The Wellhead must use Firmware Version 1.000 or higher.

 

1.1 AquaVent Water Level Datalogger

The AquaVent is an accurate water level and temperature datalogger. It uses a gauged (vented) pressure transducer. The pressure sensor is open to the atmosphere via a vented cable to surface, therefore, provides water level measurements that are automatically compensated for barometric effects, as well as temperature.

The AquaVent logger contains a desiccant and hydrophobic filter where the Vented Cable connects. There is no need to replace the desiccant or filter, they are designed to provide protection from moisture over the lifetime of the instrument, while still allowing air to vent to the transducer.

Note:

The Model number refers to the depth of submergence below water level that the pressure sensor can withstand. i.e.: The AquaVent which is available in M5, M10, and M20 ranges has actual water level ranges of 5 m(16.40 ft), 10 m (32.80 ft), and 20 m (65.60 ft) respectively.
