As with any groundwater or surface water monitoring project, you should select the proper equipment and determine a maintenance schedule based on the monitoring environment specific to your application.
For the Levelogger and LevelVent this means selecting the appropriate pressure range, ensuring the monitoring temperatures are within the instruments specifications, and making sure the wetted materials are compatible with site chemistry. Battery re-charging should be done on regular scheduled intervals, based on the battery life estimates shown in Table 7-1. It is recommended to recharge the battery once it reaches 9 Volts. Recharging is especially important in the fall, if the winter temperatures are cold. Replace existing lead-acid batteries every 3-5 years.
