5 Remote Station Hardware Setup

STS Gold Telemetry Systems come with standardized equipment configurations. The STS Gold Controller, Distribution Box, selected modem with antenna (optional high gain antenna also available), all required cables, armored conduit, and 3 NPT weatherproof fittings are standard. STS Gold Systems also require a user-supplied 12V sealed lead-acid battery to power the system (see Section 5.4 for battery specifications). Leveloggers, Direct Read Cables and Reader Cables to be used with the System are purchased separately. The following figures show standard setups and cables for Remote Stations using the GSM (CDMA) modem. The Modem Power Cables and setup are shown in Figures 5-2 and 5-3.

Note:

After you have made all connections at the Remote Station, configured the modem, and set up a STS Site using STS Software, you will have to initialize the STS System to start communication (See Section 5.6).

Note:

It is recommended to check all equipment when you receive it, to ensure all cables and components are accounted for.

It is also recommended you setup the Remote Station in the office, and initialize as a test before installing in the field.

Note:

GSM setups also come with a Null Modem Cable (#106355) that connects the modem to the Distribution Box, and also the modem to the PC when activating the modem.
