Model 401 Waterloo Multilevel Systems
Proven Results for Decades
- Isolate and monitor depth discrete zones
- Dedicate pumps and transducers
- Engineered packers
The Waterloo Multilevel System allows groundwater measurements and samples from many isolated zones in a single borehole. Flexible design allows users to customize a system for each monitoring project.
Waterloo Multilevel Groundwater Monitoring System
The Waterloo Multilevel Groundwater Monitoring System is used to obtain groundwater samples, hydraulic head and permeability measurements from many discretely isolated zones in a single borehole.
Waterloo Systems have a modular design that gives excellent site and application flexibility, allowing placement of ports and packers exactly where needed. The engineered seals and dedicated sampling and level monitoring capabilities have been used to 1000 ft (300 m). The systems can be installed in 3-4″ boreholes, or larger. Options are available to suit bedrock, overburden, or a combination application.
Waterloo Systems reduce project costs and time in the field, with fewer drilled holes, reduced site disturbance, smaller purge volumes and faster sampling. A number of systems used at one site provide detailed 3-D groundwater information, which enables superior decision-making and more accurate site and risk assessments. It allows the tracking and detection of migrating contaminants, monitoring of natural attenuation, and determines remediation performance.
CMT Multilevel Monitoring
- Low cost and easy to install in one day
- Single tube for effective sealing
- Ideal for shallow applications
- In-field design flexibility
- 7-Channel or narrow 3-Channel options
Dedicated Monitoring
Waterloo Multilevel Systems have the option of using both dedicated pumps and pressure transducers at each monitoring port. This maximizes the speed at which data is obtained, avoids cross-contamination and ensures repeatable measurements. Purge volumes are reduced, which saves even more time and effort, and provides cost savings.

Waterloo Multilevel Systems Help Characterize Plume in Landfill Expansion Project
The GeoEnvironmental (GZA), a multi-disciplinary environmental consulting firm, designed and operates a pump and treat system at a large solid waste landfill in Rhode Island. GZA has been overseeing the system for the past ten years, and have successfully extracted and treated more than 10 million gallons of highly contaminated groundwater.
High-Resolution Site Characterization with Multilevel Systems
Within the last few years, the U.S. EPA added a new focus area on high-resolution site characterization (HRSC) to their Contaminated Site Clean-Up Information (CLU-IN) website. The U.S. EPA’s definition of HRSC is: “High-resolution site characterization (HRSC) strategies and techniques use scale-appropriate measurement and sample density to define contaminant distributions, and the physical context in…

Enhanced Bioremediation
The Waterloo Emitter™ is a simple, low cost device designed for the bioremediation of contaminated groundwater. It enables oxygen or other amendments to diffuse through silicone or LDPE tubing in a controlled, uniform manner. Ideal for aerobic bioremediation of MTBE and BTEX, with minimal maintenance required.
3/8" Diameter Flexible Pneumatic Pump
The Micro Double Valve Pump has a remarkably small and flexible design. At 3/8" (10 mm) diameter it is small enough to sample groundwater from channels of a CMT System.
Rugged Peristaltic Pump
Compact, lightweight, and water-resistant, the Solinst Peristaltic Pump is designed for field use. One easy-access control allows various speeds and reversible flow. Ideal for shallow water and vapor sampling.
Narrow Stainless Steel Pumps
Narrow diameter stainless steel Model 407 Bladder Pumps or Model 408 Double Valve Pumps used in Waterloo Multilevel Systems reduce purge volumes and allow simultaneous purging of all zones.
Well Casing & Depth Indicator
The Model 105 Well Casing & Depth Indicator detects metal well casing and measures total well depth using one probe. Ideal during well construction or decommissioning.
